Homeschool Blogger Meet & Greet: In All You Do

May 30, 2014 By: amyswanderingcomment

I am starting a new little series to introduce you to a few homeschool bloggers from around the web. Some of them are seasoned veterans, and some of them are in their first year. Check them out and say hello- you might just find a new friend!
Homeschool Blogger Meet & Greet
Good morning, Are We There Yet? readers! I am Annette and I blog over at In All You Do. There my team of contributors and I talk about marriage, parenting, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning and anything else the Lord lays on our hearts to share. I have been married to my husband for 10+ years. Together we we are raising our children to know and love the Lord and follow His leading no matter what.

We live in southern Indiana where I homeschool our four children – ages 8, 5, 4 and 2. We are just completing our 4th year of homeschooling. We are year-round schoolers, which allows us more freedom with our ministry schedule, visiting family and enjoying field trips during the week when it’s less crowded. Our new school year begins in July and I will add two new students – my 5 year-old in Kindergarten and my 4 year-old in PreK. The youngest will turn 3 in August, so she will probably join in the fun with us too.

I love to create printables and have over 175 printable packs available for FREE with more releasing each week! There are printables for each season, gardening, holidays and more. You will also find encouraging articles for Moms on marriage, parenting, being a mom, homeschooling and more.

Subscribe to our weekly newsletter and you can download our Subscriber ONLY Farm Unit Printable Pack with 105+ pages of puzzles, activities, coloring pages and MORE!!

Want to keep up with all the new releases and articles at In All You Do? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Pinterest.

I hope to “see” around the web!

Annette has been married to her husband and best friend for 10 years. Together they are raising their four children to follow the Lord’s will, no matter what. Annette longs for the day when she will meet her 5 angel babies who have entered heaven before her. She enjoys creating UNIT STUDIES with FREE PRINTABLES (more coming soon) for homeschool families and she gets her scrapbooking fix in by making Subway Art for herself and her readers. You can follow her crazy life at In All You Do where she blogs about homeschooling, gluten- and grain-free recipes, homemaking, the occasional DIY projects and maintaining her sanity. You can also keep up with her via Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.

Detours, Roadblocks, and an Accidental Vacation

May 29, 2014 By: amyswanderingcomment

Hi Everyone! Did you think I fell off the face of the earth? Well it sure felt like it!

My kiddos and I spent the last two and a half weeks visiting family. I put my laptop in the shop before we left and it wasn’t fixed in time, so I had to leave without it. To make matters more complicated, I had a TMJ flare-up on our trip. All blogging plans went out the window, so I decided to make the best of it and enjoy my media break.

Earning College Credits in High School with Online CLEP Prep

May 9, 2014 By: amyswandering2 Comments

I received a free course and was compensated for my time in exchange for an honest review. I am not required to post a positive review. This post contains affiliate links.

The No Tears Way to Earn College Credit in High School

My oldest will be a Senior next year. How in the world did that happen? She is still trying to decide what she wants to do about college, and I feel like we are walking a fine line when it comes to choosing courses she enjoys. I want her to have fun with her classes next year, but still be prepared for college if that is the path she chooses. JumpCourse.com is coming to our rescue with online CLEP prep courses.

The Smarter Way to Earn College Credits

With JumpCourse.com, my daughter will be able to earn dual-credits on any of the online courses. She can CLEP out of a class if she chooses to head to college, and if not, she hasn’t wasted any time because it also counts as part of our homeschool curriculum.

In case you aren’t familiar, CLEP stands for College Level Examination Program. It is simply a test that allows a student to receive college credit for a course if mastery is shown. The test and testing center fees usually run around$120, and each course is $99. This is significantly cheaper than a college class. It really becomes a bargain when you find out that there is no textbook necessary.

Enjoyable Online CLEP Prep

JumpCourse utilizes a very enjoyable combination of learning methods. You can use all three, or just the ones that work for you. Each unit of a course has three parts:

  • Watch – A short, informative video draws the student in with an engaging speaker and lots of graphics.
  • Read – The lecture contains the same info as the video for those who learn through text, or want to reinforce what was learned on the video.
  • Practice – Interactive activities test your knowledge. You can’t move on until you have mastered a unit.

I decided to test it out by watching the video, quickly scanning through the lecture, and moving on to the activities. Unlike the intro lesson I did where I had to drag & drop some words to match definitions, this one was fill in the blank. Aack!! I was satisfied at that point that my kids will need to put forth some effort to master these units.

A student can complete as many activities as needed to show mastery. The program uses adaptive learning to tailor the review to your abilities. It becomes harder or easier depending on your skill level. You cannot unlock the next level without mastering the current one. Each course also has an online study group for students who learn best by interacting with others. An instructor is available for additional coaching.

Online Psychology Course & More

There are five courses currently available, five courses coming soon, and more in development. My daughter has started the Psychology course. She will be able to work on her own schedule without the pressure of logging on for a lecture at a specific time or stepping into a classroom of strangers.

Buy Now/Use Later SALE

Jumpcourse.com is offering you a great deal right now! You can save 50% off of one course with code HOME50 if purchased by June 3oth, 2014.
